Obituary of Dorothy V. Fusco

And now, the end is near And so I face the final curtain My friend, I'll say it clear I'll state my case, of which I'm certain I've lived a life that's full I traveled each and every highway And more, much more than this I did it my way Frank Sinatra Dorothy Fusco, 91 of Huguenot passed away on September 15, 2023. She married her sweetheart, Albert Fusco October of 1954 in Brooklyn, New York. Shortly after their wedding, Albert was called at war In Korea. While Dorothy lived on the Air Force base in California, they welcomed their beautiful daughter, Denise in September 1955. Dorothy was so strong willed to return back to Brooklyn before Albert was released from the Air Force base, that she took Denise at 8 months old back to her roots. Several months later Albert returned home, and they later purchased their first home on Sheldon Avenue in Staten Island, New York in 1970. They raised their daughter and lived in their forever home making beautiful friends with their neighbors. Dorothy worked in Manhattan for a few years before landing her secretarial position at St. Francis de Sales which she then retired from with 30+ years. While living in Staten Island, you could always find Dimples watching the Mets, making a Sunday sauce, or shopping in the mall. She had a love for fashion and home decor. Dorothy loved to kick her feet up and watch the hallmark channel. When not in Staten Island you can always be sure to find Dorothy on the slot machines at the Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was a member of our lady star of the sea. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Albert Fusco in 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Denise Petrizzo and husband Vincent Petrizzo JR. Grandchildren, Vincent Petrizzo III married to Theresa and Gina Salerno married to Thomas and her great grandson, James Salerno. The family will welcome family and friends Thursday September 21 between 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, 28 Eltingville Blvd, Staten Island, NY. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 22, at 11:00 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea R.C. Church, at 5371 Amboy Road Staten Island, New York Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dorothy's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
