Obituary of Rose E. Bowden

Rose Bowden passed away on Saturday 09/23/2023. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by her three sons, Dale, Jack and his wife Susan, Jonathan Bowden and grandchildren Troy, Laura, Samantha, Eric, Jessica, Andrew, Justin, Amanda, and Kara Bowden along with several great grandchildren. Rose Bowden was preceded in death by her son Todd Bowden and Grandson Ben Bowden Rose Bowden was born on August 3rd 1938 in Pennington Gap, Virginia. She would go on to graduate from Pennington Gap High School. She would eventually move to Staten Island, NY where she worked in the health care industry for several years before retiring in 2003. Rose was a hard working strong women who raised four boys on her own and always showed love and support for her children and grandchildren. Rose was very friendly and took great pride in her job as a healthcare worker receiving praise and appreciation from several of her clients over the years. She also maintained a southern accent from growing up in Virginia which always brought a smile to people’s faces. Her family was her pride and joy and she will be missed dearly. She will live in our hearts forever. Visitation at Matthew Funeral Home located at 2508 Victory Boulevard on Wednesday September 27, 2023 from 2pm to 4pm and then 7pm to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at Matthews Funeral home on Thursday 09/28/2023 10am, and the burial service immediately thereafter at Ocean View Cemetery.
