Obituary of Gerard D. Hunt

Gerard D. Hunt Gerard, 68 passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, November 6, 2023 after a brief battle with colon cancer. Gerard was born on June 15, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York. He is predeceased by his parents, Peggy and Joe Hunt. He was the middle of seven children. Peggyann (deceased), Joseph (deceased), Jimmy, Tommy (deceased), Edward and Regina. He was the beloved uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews. Gerard worked for a few years with his brother in law, Gary Ryan at his shop. He then began his career as a baking assistant at the College Bakery on Court Street. He diligently worked there for over 20 years. Gerard retired and stayed by his sister Peggyann's side after her stroke. Gerard began his next adventure a year ago, when he moved into Catholic Charities residence and also delivered Meals on Wheels with his friends. Gerard loved to watch tv, especially his beloved Yankees, Law and Order and Bar Rescue. He loved go out to eat, share a story of growing up on Baltic Street or sing and dance in the car. His smile could always light up a room. He will be extremely missed and will always be loved. Family and friends may visit November 9, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd. Staten Island, 10314. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church, 53 St. Patrick's Place, Staten Island, NY 10306 on Friday November 10, 2023 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Northwell Hospice Care at the Addeo House 74 Meisner Ave SINY 10306.
