Obituary of Barbara C. Brooks

In Loving Memory of Barbara Brooks Sunrise November 28, 1937 - Sunset December 20, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Barbara Brooks, a beloved member of the Staten Island community. Born and raised on this island to parents Velma Hunter and Anthony Rannie, Barbara's life journey was filled with love, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to her family. When she was only a teenager, she met and married the love of her life, Hiram Brooks, embarking on a partnership that lasted over 65 years and was one that that would be defined by the values of commitment, kindness, and unity. As a mother, Barbara was a pillar of strength and a source of inspiration to her five children - Kalonji, Jeannine, Kirk, Bip and Susan. She and Hiram also helped raise Dare, Tamea, Jeannine (Sho Sho), Rashan and Saute. She nurtured all of them with unwavering love, teaching them the importance of family bonds and the power of unconditional support. She leaves behind her sisters Ona and Naomi and countless loved ones who will cherish her memory forever. Let us honor Barbara by carrying forward the values she held dear and by cherishing the memories of a beautiful woman who gave so much. Barbara, your love will continue to guide us. May your spirit shine on us and with us for eternity. The wake will be held at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY 10314 on Tuesday, January 2nd, visiting will be 5:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on January 3rd at 10:00am at Matthew Funeral Home with burial at Moravian Cemetery, a repast to follow at the Staaten.
