Obituary of Esther G. Kaczmarek

Esther G. Kaczmarek of Travis passed on January 7, 2024. She was a loving mother of Ann Marie Reid, Mary Beth Cantwell, Steven, Robert, Catherine, Michael, and Christopher Kaczmarek. Her husband of 52 years, Leon A. Kaczmarek died in 2004. Esther is survived by 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Her beloved sister Anne D'Alessio passed away in 2010. Her brother Howard K. Jones lives in Michigan. Esther and her siblings grew up in Wilkes Barre, PA. She moved to Bayonne, NJ to attend nursing school. She met Leon while living in Bayonne, and together they moved to Staten Island after their marriage in 1952, settling in the Westerleigh neighborhood. They moved to Travis in 1967 and lived there until 2022. She worked at Verrazano Nursing Home as a registered nurse until her retirement in 1995. Esther was a parishioner at Holy Family Church where she was an active member of their first Friday adoration and prayer shawl group. She was also an avid knitter. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, 1/12, departing at 10:00 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be at Holy Family RC Church at 10:30 am.
