Obituary of Fiorello (Lolly) LaGala

Fiorello (Lolly) LaGala (1933-2024) Fiorello (Lolly) LaGala passed away on February 22, 2024 after a brief illness. Mr. LaGala was born on November 28, 1933 in the Little Italy section in Manhattan, New York to Salvatore and Josephine (nee Serantonio) LaGala. Lolly as he was affectionately known, was the 5th of 6 children and was raised in Little Italy for most of his young life. It was there that Lolly met his soul mate for the next 75 years, his wife Connie (Longordo). Together they forged a lifelong love affair that produced 3 wonderful children, Salvatore, JoAnne and Anthony. Lolly worked at various jobs throughout his life to provide the best for his family from a making delicious pizzas as a Pizza Chef, warehouseman for A&P and working for the New York City Sanitation Department until his retirement in 1989. He and his family moved from Manhattan in 1966 to Staten Island residing in South Beach and Rosebank. Lolly was an avid fan of the Turner Movie Network, watching many of the old classics. He also loved caring for the many cars he had throughout his life, polishing them until they sparkled. He and his wife enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and spending time and relishing the holidays with his children and grandchildren. Lolly is predeceased by his sons, Salvatore and Anthony and is survived by his wife of 72 years Connie, his daughter, JoAnne Scarano and her husband, Dominic, his grandchildren, Stephanie Ibrahim, Anthony LaGala Jr, Salvatore LaGala , Sabrina LaGala, daughter in law Eileen LaGala (Anthony) and 2 great grandchildren, Amaya Ibrahim and Anthony LaGala III. He also survived by a sister Gloria LaGala and is predeceased by his siblings, Vincent, Clement, Dottie and Netta. A Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Church, 80 Jerome Ave. South Beach, Staten Island, NY on March 1 at 9:30 am. Burial will follow at St Mary's Cemetery 155 Parkinson Ave. South Beach, Staten Island. Visitation will be held at Matthew Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island Thursday, February 29 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
