Obituary of Theresa A. Colombo

Theresa A. Colombo (nee Delfino), age 78, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2018 at Riverview Hospital, Redbank, NJ. She was the beloved wife of Anthony S. Colombo for 58 years; loving mother of Michael Colombo and his wife, Jacqueline, and Tracey Colombo-Rosario and her husband, Edwin; cherished grandmother of Angela Rosario and Alyssa Colombo; dear sister of Peter Delfino and his wife, Eva, Lawrence Delfino and his partner, Paul Cundari, and Linda DeClara and her late huband, Charles DeClara. Theresa was born in Brooklyn in 1939, and raised in the Carroll Gardens neighborhood. She was a graduate of Manuel Training High School in Brooklyn and earned her Master's Degree at Rutgers University. After graduation she worked for Fort Monmouth as a Counselor, and then Children's Psychiatric Center in Middletown. She was then employed for 25 years with the Middletown, NJ Board of Education, as a Social Worker. In addition to this she also had her own private practice as an L.C.S.W. She relocated to Middletown, NJ in 1975. In her spare time she loved travelling to her time share in Aruba, shopping from QVC. She was also described by her husband as excellent cook and baker. Some of her favorite specialties were her Sunday Sauce, Italian Cheesecake, Lindzer Tarts, Christmas Cookies and Butter Cookies. Theresa loved to entertain her family and friends. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, departing at 9:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Teresa's R.C. Church at 10:45 am. Committal Service will follow at Rosehill Crematory, Linden, NJ. Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 7 to 9 pm and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.
