Obituary of Carmen D'Orazio

Carmen Gloria D'Orazio, 86, died of natural causes on March 22, 2024 at Eger Nursing Home. She was born March 20, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Anthony Conticello and Gaetana Asciolla. Carmen obtained her Associate's Degree, and immediately worked for Sabena Airlines as a flight attendant. After the Korean War ended, she married her high school sweetheart, Leonard D'Orazio, where they settled in Staten Island, NY. Together, they owned several successful businesses and celebrated 40 years of marriage, until the sudden passing of her husband and best friend in January 1998. Carmen finished her working career as a school secretary for the NYC Board of Education. Carmen, who was affectionately called Mille by those who were near and dear to her, was an avid sports fan and remembered for being a passionate and committed "soccer mom." Millie was an amazing Mother to her children, Marc and Donna, and a caring Grandmother to her five grandchildren, Gabrielle, JD, Lenny, Marc Anthony, and Sebastian. In addition to her parents, Millie was predeceased by her brother Leonard. Surviving siblings are William, Annette, and Marie. A service of remembrance will be held 9:30 AM Wednesday, August 27 at St. Teresa Church (1634 Victory Boulevard, SI, NY 10314. Burial service will be at Moravian Cemetery.
