Obituary of Thomas G. Meehan

Thomas G. Meehan, 68, passed away Tuesday April 23rd, 2024, at Richmond University Medical Center on Staten Island after a valiant battle against cancer.

Thomas was born in Jersey City, NJ on November 7th, 1955, to Mary and Thomas Meehan. After moving to Staten Island as a child with his parents and younger sister, Katherine, he graduated from McKee Technical High School. He married Brenda Briggi in 1984, and they share a son, Thomas James. Tom had a successful career at Horan Engraving Company in Manhattan for 25 years and later worked as both a personal driver and a school bus driver on Staten Island. He had a passion for music, dancing, NY sports, telling stories, and playing the lottery.  After a tragic accident, he spent the last nine years as a resident at New Vanderbilt Nursing Home on Staten Island. His larger-than-life presence was felt in any room, and he loved his friends and family endlessly.

Thomas is survived by his greatest joy, his son, Thomas James Meehan.  He is also survived by his sister, Katherine Robles, brother-in-law, Vito Robles, and his nieces Allison and Melanie. He will be forever missed and in our hearts.

Service will be held this Thursday, April 25th, from 4-9pm at Matthew Funeral Home on Staten Island. His funeral mass will be Friday, April 26th at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church on Staten Island.
