Obituary of Jerome Harris

Loving father, grandfather and insurance exec. Jerome (Jerry) Harris, 85, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024. He was born on Aug 2, 1938, in Maspeth, Queens, to Jerome & Marcella Harris. He graduated from Grover Cleveland H.S. Jerry spent his career as an insurance executive at Gerling, AIG & Allianz Ins. Jerry loved to travel and on a trip to New Zealand, he was crowned an honorary Maori Chief, much to his delight. Jerry loved Monday morning bowling with the Golden Oldies & was an avid tennis player with a mean slice. Jerry was a loyal Mets & Giants fan. He is survived by his long time partner;Kathy Coopey, his children; Jerry Harris (Gloria); Kim Harris, step children; Chrissy Coopey, Karen Mackey, Jimmy Coopey and numerous grand children. Jerry was predeceased by his brother Richard. He was a parishioner at St. Rita's Church. A wake will be held at Matthews Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd on Sunday, May 5th from 3pm-8pm. A funeral mass is scheduled for Monday, May 6th at 10:00 am, at St. Rita's Church, 281 Bradley Ave, SI, NY 10314.
