I met Al when I was a young NYPD Police Officer. I worked with him for several years at Headquarters. He became a lifelong friend. He was 12 years older than me. He was a common sense person that I always turned to for advice. I truly loved the guy. We spoke at Xmas of 2023. I found his obit online and was saddened. Al was such a decent man with a big heart. I was lucky to have known him. He made me a better person by his example. They say life is a series of memories. And Al gave me some of the best to remember. Rest in God's hands my dear friend. I'll never forget you.

A sad loss. I was lucky enough to meet Al twice in the UK (once with my partner Jenni) in 2016 and 2017. I remember his sharp wit, engaging personality and great spirit generally and while recalling his time with the NYPD. He is with his beloved Mary now. Sad they have both passed away recently, so soon after one another.

Al was a lovely man. Always positive and jovial. I'll miss the long chats we had on the phone on Tuesdays and Sundays. I'm devastated by his passing. Now he with his wife (my sister) Mary at peace in heaven

Candles lit by Kathleen Keane (neé Mullins) & family in England to mark Al's sad passing, especially so soon after Mary. May they now enjoy love and peace together again in Heaven.

Al Pico and I go back many years as he was the husband of my Godmother (Mary Mullins - Pico).
We had mutual interests in that he was in NYPD and I served in the Metropolitan Police, London.
We both joined our respective retirement organisations and I was proud to be part of the DEA and PBA as an associate which he arranged. When he came to London he enjoyed a tour of New Scotland Yard, I also really ended going on patrol with the NYPD in the 5th Precient in NY City.
A large amount of his police career was fictionalised in the book 'No Back- Up Needed' by James J. Kavanaugh (2010) which gave a very real, raw and honest account of life in the NYPD and I still refer to my copy that he personally signed.
After retiring Al went on to be successful in the banking industry in and around Wall Street and many came to him for help.
The times in his swimming pool at his home were great with steaks on the Bar B Q and apple pie afterwards !
Albert Pico was a patriot and I thank you, Al for your courage in putting others first, protecting your country and your bravery. May you and Mary rest in peace. You both made a real difference for so many people.

Al was a true gentleman and I’ll miss him dearly. I greatly enjoyed his stories, conversation, and sense of humor. I have fond memories of playing with him as a kid, our chats on the phone, and him greeting me at the airport with Mary when I moved to New York. I admired his passion for his work in the NYPD, and most of all, his endlessly positive outlook on life. I’m grateful that I was able to spend some time with him recently, and I’m keeping Al and Mary in my thoughts. May they rest together in peace.

It was an honour to know a wonderful man, Al Pico. Al was married to my late sister Mary Mullins and we as a family were always delighted to meet him on their numerous visits to Ireland. We were fortunate to visit them only last year at their home on Staten Island. So glad that we got to see him recently when there for Mary's funeral.
Al was a kind, gentle and caring man.Al and Mary are together again. Light of Heaven to you both. God Bless.

Uncle Al, Mary, Uncle Joe and my mom, Sue. They all came as a surprise for my mom's 80th birthday in 2000. It was so special for her.
