Obituary of Camille C. Donnelly

Camille C. Donnelly, 70, of Sunnyside passed away on Thursday.  Born in Manhattan to John and Lucy Scavo.  She attended McKee High School before graduating from The Wilfred Academy of Hair and Beauty Culture, where she became a Hairdresser/Barber and worked as such for the last 53 years.

She met Harry Donnelly in 1991 and they married in 1997.  They settled in Sunnyside with their combined families.  She was preceded in death by her son, John Cowhig.  She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Harry Donnely (aka her Chemo Sabi) and her combined children of, Desiree Caserta (John Caserta), Danny Cowhig (Dara Cowhig), Joe Donnelly (Erica Donnelly), Jenny Donnelly, Laura Donnelly, and Mikey Donnelly.  She has 11 grandchildren combined, DJ Caserta, Richie Caserta, Danny Cowhig III, Danica Cowhig, Mikey Cowhig, Jayde Carlsen, Bobby Diaz, Aliviah Davis, Justin Figueroa, Angelina Figueroa, and Michael Donnelly Jr. She was preceded in death by her brother Raymond Scavo.  She is survived by her loving sisters Jennie Mackiwiecz and Lucille Fiore (Louis Fiore) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Camille was a fighter.  She battled stage IV Ovarian cancer and recently began to fight again.  She adored and loved spending time with her grandchildren and lovingly referred to them as her medicine.  She was a frequent flyer at Harrah's Resort Casino in Atlantic City and would settle for day trips to Parx Casino in Pennsylvania.  Her daily activity always included playing her numbers.  She loved fiercely and will always be remembered as a warrior.  She had the biggest heart and will be greatly missed.

Family and friends may visit the Matthew Funeral Home 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY on Tuesday, May 28th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.  A service will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 8PM.
