Obituary of Diana Thambounaris

Diana Thambounaris, 88, of Staten Island, N.Y., a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, and wonderful mother-in-law passed away peacefully on May 25, 2024. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in March 1936, and settled in Staten Island in 1972 with her family. Diana worked as a nutritional chef at Staten Island University Hospital for over 20 years and even won an award for never taking a sick day for 10 of those years. She was the matriarch, always cooking Sunday dinner to spend time with her family and making feasts for the holidays, especially for Orthodox Easter. She also loved tending to her garden and going shopping for hours when she could. Diana is survived by the love of her life, Harry of 69 years. Together, they built a beautiful life with sons Arthur and Peter, daughter-in-law Christine, son-in- law Demetrios, sister Christine Moscoso, grandchildren Amanda and her husband Neil, Brittany and her fiancé Sean, great granddaughter Everly, nephew Alexander and his wife Pam, and their two children Dominic and Dylan. Her love, bright smile, and firecracker spirit will be truly missed. May her memory be eternal, and may she rest in peace.
