Obituary of Marie J. Scimone

Marie J. Scimone (nee LaPera), age 93, passed away on May 2, 2018. She was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore J. Scimone. She was the loving mother of Barbara Keegan and her husband Jack. She was the cherished grandmother of Wendy Keegan Sherwood and her husband William. She was the dear great grandmother of Jack Sherwood. She is the fond sister of Theresa Jennings and her husband Joseph and the late Eleanor Colletti, Louis LaPera, Frank LaPera, and Danny LaPera. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. Early on Marie worked as waitress at her father's resort at Culver's Lake in Sussex County, NJ. She was a brilliant woman who had the opportunity to work on the Manhattan Project during World War II. Later she worked as a sales person at Woolworth in Brooklyn. In her spare time she enjoyed playing poker, crocheting, baking and cooking. Most importantly she loved spending time with her loving family. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd., On Monday, 5/7/18, departing at 8:45 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Teresa's R.C. Church at 9:30 AM. An interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Sunday from 2:00 to 7:00 PM.
