Obituary of Gina Virga

Gina Virga ("Gigi") passed away on June 5, 2024, in Scottsdale, AZ. Born December 4, 1939 in Bisacquino, Palermo, Sicily, Gina was a loving wife, a caring mother, a grandmother, an artist, and a loyal friend. She moved with her family to the United States when she was 15, working as a secretary and attending secretarial school before meeting her loving husband at a dance in Germantown, NY. Known for her compassion and selfless nature, Gina's bright, funny, and magnetic personality touched the lives of many.

Gina is survived by her loving and caring husband Fred, her sister Pina, daughter Adriana, sons Fred II and Gregory, and her grandchildren, Stephen, Dakota, Mia, Gregory, and Kolby. She is preceded in death by her mother Antonina, father Francesco, sister Bernardina, brother Salvatore, and beloved pets George, Benji, and Champ.

Gina was a terrific artist, able to transform canvas, scarves, aprons and even gourds into beautiful works of art admired by many. She was also a great singer in both English and Italian. Her exceptional cooking and warm demeanor brought friends, relatives, and neighbors from all over, and Gina loved to host them all. She will be greatly missed.
