Obituary of Kevin J. Cordero

Kevin J. Cordero, 38, passed away on July 7th, 2024. He is survived by his father Henry, mother Monserrate, and beloved big brother Joseph.

Kevin had a passion for cooking, art, the outdoors, and most of all, helping people. He would take any chance that he could to go camping, hiking, or kayaking with his friends. He loved drawing and sketching, and would do so for hours on end sometimes in one of his books or anything he deemed a “blank canvas”. His love for food started at a young age and would often cook for or with his older brother Joseph, they even joked about starting a cooking show called “Cooking with the Cordero’s”. Kevin also loved helping people and would routinely lend a helping hand to a neighbor or someone in need. In the past year alone he pulled a man from an overturned vehicle and helped an old man who fell and broke his hip walking home from the supermarket. Family and friends were of utmost importance to Kevin and he managed to maintain these bonds without the use of any social media, something he took great pride in because he valued his privacy.

He was excited to begin his new career with the DSNY this year before his life was tragically cut short, and spent the final months of his life minding his health and preparing for his new path forward.

The visitation will be at Matthew Funeral Home on Sunday July 14th from 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm. Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday July 15th at 10am with interment to follow at Rosehill Cemetery in Linden, NJ.
