Obituary of Louise Phillips

Louise Phillips, Esq., aged 69, of Staten Island, NY passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family and friends on July 9, 2024.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Louise was the eldest child of the late Michael and Dolores Squeglia.

Louise was the loving wife to William Phillips, with whom she shared 41 happy years of marriage. Together, they raised a family on Staten Island, NY. Louise was a dedicated mother to her two sons, Brian and Daniel Phillips, caring sister to Michael Squeglia and Mary Seyfried, and loving aunt to Laura Maraio and Chrissy Parnizari. Louise was also the proud grandmother of two grandchildren, Michael and Natalie Phillips, and mother-in-law to Laurie Phillips.

A distinguished graduate of Brooklyn Law School, Louise earned her Juris Doctorate. As an attorney, Louise worked as an Assistant District Attorney for the Brooklyn District Attorney's office in the Domestic Violence Bureau where she zealously represented the victims of violent domestic crimes. Even after Louise retired to stay home and raise her sons, she continued to tirelessly use her legal skills to help others in her community.

A woman of deep faith, Louise touched the lives of countless friends and family around her in ways big and small. Beyond always helping close family, friends, and neighbors, she also served in many capacities for Salem Church, Pregnancy Care Center, Urban Hope NYC and other organizations focusing on ministering to women and children. Her commitment to her Savior, Jesus Christ, was evident in her words and actions. Louise lived a life of service, not only to her family and church, but to her community. Her legacy of service, faith and compassion continues through her family and all that knew and loved her.

Although Louise's passing leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, her profound impact on her family, church, and community will be felt for generations to come. As we mourn the loss of a truly Christ-like woman, we also celebrate a life well lived—a life devoted to living out the Gospel message.

Visitation will be at Matthew Funeral Home from 2-4PM & 6-9PM on Friday July 19th

A memorial service will be held at 634 Clove Road, at Salem church in Staten Island, NY on July 20th at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Louise to: Urban Hope NYC (https://www.urbanhopenyc.org/).

Rest in the Lord, Louise Phillips. Your memory will forever be with us.
