Obituary of B. William Fuca

Baldassare William Fuca “Bill”, 91 peacefully passed away on July 20, 2024, at the hospital in Stony Brook NY.

Bill was born September 30, 1932, to Angela and Vincenzo Fuca of Port Richmond in Staten Island NY. Bill graduated from Port Richmond High School in 1950. After high school, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy on March 6, 1952. Bill was a Korean War Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal as well as the NAVY Occupational Service Medal for his 4 years of service for our country. Bill married Patricia Barwick on July 8, 1962 at St Roch’s Roman Catholic church with a reception at the Staaten. The two loved to travel, going on several cruises and trips to Europe and other parts of the world until Pat passed away in 1995.

Bill was a talented salesman but focused on carpet and flooring, which earned him the nickname “Billy Rugs”. 1986 he opened his own store Casa Di Carpet on Hylan Blvd in Staten Island.

Bill loved spending time with his family, especially Sunday and holiday dinners at his sister Millie’s. He also enjoyed traveling, going out to eat and playing cards with family. Bill was a big New York Yankees fan who also loved watching and betting on football.

Bill was a beloved resident of Staten Island NY spending 90 of his 91 years in Richmond County until he moved to Long Island with his son and his family.

Bill is survived by his brother Joseph (Denise) Fuca, Son Vincent (Nancy) Fuca, Grandchildren Summer and Vincent Fuca, Brother-in-law Michael Armenia. Niece Melissa (Thomas) Armenia Kowalski, Niece Rachel (Joseph) Borelli, and Nephew Michael Armenia. Fiancée Lucy Mataliano and many friends and family.

He was preceded in death by Wife Patricia and Sister Mildred Armenia.
