Obituary of Barbara A. Zaremba
Barbara A. Zaremba, 69, of Staten Island passed away peacefully and unexpectedly on August 1, 2024, on the island of Aruba.
Barbara was born on September 12, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York. She was raised in Brooklyn, New York, prior to relocating to Staten Island, New York to raise a family.
Barbara met her beloved husband at the New York Rangers fan club in New York in 1984. They married on December 7, 1985, and were happily married, just shy of 39 years.
Barbara was a devoted parent coordinator at I.S. 7 in Huguenot, Staten Island, New York, from 2005 to 2022, when she retired. She was highly dedicated to helping and assisting administration, faculty and parents, throughout her 17 years there. Barbara could not help but smile every time she spoke of her time at I.S. 7. When Barbara was not working, she enjoyed watching the New York Rangers, New York Mets, and the Olympics. Barbara also loved making lists and playing Sudoku, and spending time with her family. During her summer months away from school, she always looked forward to traveling to her happy place, the island of Aruba, with her family and closest friends.
Barbara is survived by her dear husband, Alan Zaremba, her two children, Lauren and David Zaremba, her father, Eric Liberth, her sister Maureen Liberth, her daughter-in-law, Mary Zaremba, and her grandson Santino Jude Zaremba. Barbara is predeceased by her sister, Susan Liberth (2002), her mother, Irene Liberth (2019), and her brother, Michael Liberth (2019).
Barbara’s passing comes as a great shock and heartbreak to all. She cherished every memory of her time spent with family and friends, and her smile and laugh will truly be missed by all who loved her.
Visitation will be held at Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, New York, on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Pity Church, Staten Island, New York, Friday, August 9, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., followed by the burial at Resurrection Cemetery, Staten Island, New York.
The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time, and requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made in Barbara’s name to Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
