Obituary of Joanne Zemek Laub

Joanne Zemek Laub, aged 61, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at home. 

She was born on July 23, 1963 in Brooklyn, New York to Marjorie (Genetelli) and Elliot Zemek.  She was a proud resident of Westerleigh, Staten Island and was a 1981 graduate of St. Peter’s High School for girls and a graduate of the College of Staten Island with a Bachelor of Science degree.  She married Kevin Laub on May 31, 1996. 

Joanne worked as an elementary school teacher for 32 years at her beloved Blessed Sacrament School, Staten Island.  It was there she cherished her students and forged long-lasting friendships.  She loved to travel and enjoyed her time at the Jersey Shore, 

She is survived by her husband, Kevin, her son Kevin Elliot, her mom, Majorie Zemek, brother Peter, as well as nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Matthew Funeral Home on Thursday, August 29^th from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm.  Funeral service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Friday, August 30^th at 10 am with interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
