Obituary of Joe "Duke" LaDuca

 

Joseph Gasper LaDuca (Duke), 84 of Atlantic Highlands New Jersey, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Born on March 6, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, Duke resided for most of his life in Staten Island, New York.

 

Joseph was a devoted husband, loving father, caring brother, and the best grandfather, known as Poppi to all his grandchildren. Joseph always had great stories, jokes and a presence that lit up any room that he entered. A retired army veteran, contractor, salesperson, and aide for the special needs community, Joseph excelled in any profession that he tried. He was an avid fan of classic cars, hunting, golfing and enjoyed nothing more than the time he spent with all his grandchildren.

 

He met the love of his life Marie when they were teenagers and enjoyed 67 years together between dating and marriage. They had three children, Joseph, Lisa and Michael.

 

Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Gasper and Theresa, sister Joann, his two sons Joseph and Michael and granddaughter Marissa. He is survived by his wife Marie, daughter Lisa and her husband Nicholas, daughter-in-law Lori, grandchildren Nicholas and his wife Kallie, Michael, Matthew and his fiancée Caitlin, Anthony, Nicole and her husband Michael. He also leaves behind his brother Thomas, and his wife Patricia, sister-in-law Roseann, as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.

 

Memorial visitation will be held at Matthew Funeral Home on September 6 from 2:00 pm -5:00 pm and 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The celebration of life to proceed on September 7 at 10:30 am at St. Thomas the Apostle church on Staten Island.

 

Joseph will be forever missed and never forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion that will live on in the hearts of all that knew him.
