Obituary of Gregory V. Carter
Gregory Vincent Carter, 65, passed away on September 10, 2024. He is predeceased by his father, William “Billy” Carter. He is survived by his mother, Geraldine Carter, his sister Chris Carter-Cheesman, his aunt-sister, Robin Boone, and Tanya Carter, who was like a daughter to him.
Greg’s favorite pastime was spending quality time with his family and friends. He loved backyard gatherings, playing trivia with his mom, smoking cigars with the guys, watching the crashing waves on vacation in DR, swimming endless laps in the pool, the Sunday NY Times and a good football game, playing with his only niece-dog, Bella and eating chocolate cake.
He was a sports fanatic; most notably for football. In the mid-1970s Greg played on the football team for Susan E. Wagner High School on Staten Island, and then played football for Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, Missouri on a four-year scholarship. He was an avid swimmer and cyclist; swimming laps every day and/or cycling on the South Beach boardwalk and participating in various NYC borough bike events.
Greg started his professional career on Wall Street; starting out as a stockbroker. That’s when he got the bug for the capital markets and investing. He spent the majority of his career in the private-equity and venture capital sectors. Most recently he was the Director of Investor Relations for OrthoBio Therapeutics.
A memorial service for Greg will be held on Wednesday, September 18th from 5pm-8pm at Matthew Funeral Home, located at 2508 Victory Blvd, Staten Island, NY.
