Obituary of Dr. Vincent J. Ferragamo

Dr. Vincent J. Ferragamo, 82, a well-respected OB/GYN and beloved family man of Staten Island, NY, passed away on October 4, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Vincent was born May 20, 1942 to Phyllis and Alexander Ferragamo in Brooklyn, NY. Vincent attended Stuyvesant High School and went on to graduate from Wagner College with his Bachelors Degree in Psychology.

Vincent always dreamt of pursuing a career in medicine. After graduation, he attended the University of Brussels followed by the University of Antwerp Medical School and graduated with a medical degree in 1979. He began his residency at Staten Island University Hospital and completed as a Board-Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist. Following his graduation, he became a partner at Gateway OB/GYN Associates in Staten Island, NY where he dedicated his career to caring for his patients. He continued to mentor and teach young physicians at Wagner College. Generations of women took comfort with Dr. Ferragamo by their side, sharing his lifetime of wisdom and experience.  

Vincent was the loving husband of Robin Ferragamo and devoted father to Michael, Joseph, Lisa, and Alexandra. He was the proud grandfather to 7 grandchildren and loving uncle to his 4 devoted nieces and great nephew.

In addition to his passion for medicine, Vincent enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners for his family and reminiscing on the adventures he had taken. He loved spending time with his wife and family including his dog, Juno. Vince will be missed by all that knew him.

A special ‘Thank You’ to the Staten Island University Emergency Room Critical Care and Medical ICU teams for their care and kindness.

Services will be held at Matthew Funeral Home on Monday, October 7, 2024 from 3:00pm-7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Hospital; 2 charities that were important to Vincent.
