Obituary of Marina M. Mikos
Marina Mikos, born in the beautiful Graciosa Island in the Azores of Portugal, has passed away on October 29th 2024. Born Marina Medina Fernandes on November 22nd, 1943, Marina met the love of her life, Stanley Mikos, when he was stationed at Lajes Air Force base on the island of Terceira where she grew up. Marina and Stanley were married in 1962 and moved to the United States in 1965 where they began sharing their new life together filled with love, laughter, and an unbreakable devotion to one another and bringing with her a vibrant spirit and dedication to family that touched all who knew her. She settled in Staten Island, NY, where she and her family made their home for many years. In recent years she and her beloved husband, Stanley, relocated to Freehold, New Jersey.
Known for her laughter and generous spirit, Marina found her greatest joy when surrounded by family. She loved listening to country music, watching her favorite daytime soap operas, and often acted as a caregiver and babysitter for many family members.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Stanley, her three beloved children, Stanley V. Mikos, Marina Bramhall, and Marianne Chacon, and her cherished grandchildren: Thomas, Caitlyn, Vincent, Chris, Alexander, and Matthew. She was also a loving great-grandmother to Anna Marina and TJ. She is also survived by her brothers, Duarte, Mario, Leoberto, Celestino, her sister Valdemira and countless extended family members who were fortunate to experience her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love.
Marina's kindness, grace, and joy defined her life. Her loving presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel R.C. Church at 10:00 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
