Some of his greatest memories and relationships were from his years serving as a cook at Fort Drum in upstate New York.
Joe enjoyed caring for his home in Midland Beach, spending time with friends and family, cooking, fishing and working out. He was also a big animal lover, at one time having dogs of his own. Joe was curious about the world and was a voracious reader of fiction, non-fiction, history and National Geographic magazines.
