Obituary of Janet E. Cohen

Janet Ritz Cohen, 72, passed away on Saturday, December 14th from ovarian cancer. Janet was born on February 27, 1952, to Victoria and Theron Ritz in Bensonhurst Brooklyn. Janet graduated from Lafayette H.S. in 1970 and began working at Manufacturers Hanover Trust. In 1979, she began dating her coworker, Alan Cohen. They married and went on to have two children, Michael and Melissa. In 1981, Janet retired in order to focus on raising their two children. She spent her free time bowling and as a volunteer for the Staten Island Council for Animal Welfare. Janet passed away as a True-Blue New York Rangers fan.

She is survived by her grandchildren Gabriella, James, Michael Jr and Mia; her children Michael and Melissa; their spouses Rosa and Michael; her sisters Linda and Eileen; most importantly her husband of 44 years, Alan.

Services will be held at Matthews Funeral Home, 2508 Victory Blvd on Friday, January 10th. From 5:00 PM to 8 PM.
