Obituary of Marion H. Nargi

Marion H. Nargi, 96, passed away peacefully on Dec. 16, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband Anthony and sister Ruth. She is survived by her sons Benjamin and Lawrence, Daughter-in-law Jean, grandchildren Kimberly and Jenna, and her sister Britta.

She was born in Manhattan, NY as Marion Johnson, and later was brought up in the Bronx. She often spent her summers at the family home in Hillside Lake, NY which was built by her father Arthur who was a carpenter.  Her mother’s name was Olivia. Her family were of Swedish descent who emigrated from Finland.  She spent many years working as a secretary in the engineering field. She met her husband Anthony while on vacation. After they were married in 1960, they lived in Queens, NY for a while before settling in Dongan Hills, Staten Island in 1962.

Marion loved spending family vacations at Ocean City, NJ. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Brick, NJ and lived there until he passed away. She moved back to Staten Island to live with her son, daughter-in-law, and her grandchildren.  

In her spare time Marion loved to do cross stitch knitting, jigsaw puzzles, and reading books. She enjoyed eating her snacks, especially chocolate, and loved spending time with her family. Her granddaughters were her pride and joy.  illsH

Family and Friends may visit the Matthew Funeral Home on Saturday, 12/21 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM with a service at 8PM.  Burial of Cremains to follow on Monday, 12/30 at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery in New Jersey.
