Obituary of Dorothy M. Ferger

Dorothy M. Ferger, 98, of Staten Island, NY, a retired Adjuster for Chemical Bank. Dorothy M. Ferger (nee Cummings), age 98, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Harold; loving mother of Beverly Carbonaro and her husband, Frank, Dianne Voils and her husband, Otis, and the late Ronald Ferger; cherished grandmother of Catherine, Steve, Lisa, Cheryl, Ronald, Denise, and the late Deborah; dear sister of the late Raymond Cummings. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Ms. Ferger was born in Richmond Hill, Long Island and was brought to West Brighton as an infant. She grew up next door to her childhood sweetheart, the late Harold Ferger. The two graduated from Port Richmond High School together. They were married in 1937. The couple moved to Sunnyside in 1956 before settling in Margate, Florida in 1972. The two were members of the Miami Zoological Society, taking lots of pictures of the animals to share with their grandchildren. After her husband passed away in 2006, Dorothy returned to Staten Island to live with her daughter. She also enjoyed travelling with her husband to places like the Bahamas, Mississippi and Atlantic City. Dorothy will always be remembered as the sweetest lady who equally enjoyed her sweets. Funeral Service at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., on Friday at 10 am. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to visit on Thursday from 3 to 7 pm.
