Obituary of Josephine Veloce

Josephine Veloce (nee Licitra), 86, passed away peacefully at home on June 17, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late James (2015); loving mother Deanna Carballeira and her husband, Ronnie, James Veloce and his wife, Jackie, and Steven Veloce and his wife, Michelle; cherished grandmother of Nicole Carballeira, Jeannine Crispino and her husband, Anthony, Janelle Mahovich and her husband, Matt, Danielle Carballeira, Michael Carballeira, and Ally Veloce; devoted great-grandmotherr of Vanessa and Anthony. Josephine was preceded in death by her brother and sister. Mrs. Veloce was born in New York City on August 13, 1931 and was raised on the Lower East Side. She was a graduate from the former Seward Park High School in Manhattan. Josephine was employed for many years as a Bookkeeper for the Hudson Shipping Company, retiring in 1996. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, watching game shows, playing cards and doing the laundry. Josephine loved decorating for and celebrating the Christmas Season. She loved Jujy Fruits candies. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and being there for them. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday, departing at 9 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 9:30 am. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to visit on Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 pm.
