Obituary of Ines Maria Velez

Ines Maria Velez, age 76, passed away on June 24, 2018 at Staten Island University Hospital, North. She was the loving mother of David Ventura and his wife, Coe Ellen, and Johnny Ventura; cherished abuela of Nicholas Ventura; dear sister of Benito Velez, Margarita Garcia, and Meri Roman and her husband, Rafael, the late Andre Velez and the late Mella Velez. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Ms. Velez was born in 1942 in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, and was raised there. She came to the states between the years of 1965 to 1970, settling in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn, and relocated to the Parkhill section of Staten Island in 1987. In her spare time, Ines enjoyed knitting, sewing, gardening, and cooking for her family. She is described as having had a green thumb and was a caretaker, especially to her brother Benito. Funeral Service at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday at 10 am. Interment to follow in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, NJ. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
