Obituary of Carmine Orlando

Carmine Orlando, age 78, of Heartland Village, formerly of Canarsie, passed away on July 7, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Roseann (nee Bardini) for 54 years; loving father of Denise Mazzapica and her husband, Frank, Lynne Morris and her husband, Barry, and Frank Orlando and his wife, Dawn; cherished grandfather of Elizabeth Nakleh and her husband, Sam, Laura MacAuliffe and her husband, Dan, Robert Morris, and Kirsten Morris; devoted great-grandfather of Luke and Andrew Nakleh; dear brother Charles Orlando and his wife, Virginia, Josephine Miller and her husband, Charles, Rose Orlando. Carmine was preceded in death by three siblings. Mr. Orlando was born in Brooklyn in 1939, and raised in the Canarsie section and was a graduate of the Samuel J. Tilden High School. He was employed for 32 years for the Varig Airlines as a Cargo Specialist. He was a movie buff and thoroughly enjoyed westerns and gangster movies. Carmine also enjoyed playing Rummy, and betting his daily numbers, and also loved watching baseball and travelling. Most important, he loved spending time with his loving family, especially his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, family request donations in his memory be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, departing at 10 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 10:30 am. Private cremation to follow. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
