Obituary of Luz V. Ocasio

Luz V. Ocasio (nee Bayala), age 70, passed away on August 9, 2018, suddenly, at Richmond University Medical Center.  She was the beloved wife of the late William (2015) for 54 years; loving mother of Gloria Ocasio-DeStefano, Arleen Ocasio, Hellen Ocasio-Walfall, and William Ocasio, Jr., and their spouses;  cherished grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of 3.  Luz was preceded in death by many siblings and was survived by several nieces and nephews.

Luz was born in Puerto Rico, in 1947 and came to the United States as a young child, settling in Brooklyn before relocating to Staten Island later on.  She thoroughly enjoyed gambling and painting. 

Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, departing at 9:30 am.  Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 10 am.  Interment to follow in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, NJ.  Family and friends will be received on Monday from 3:00 to 9:00 pm.
