Obituary of Peter Mousmoutis
Peter Mousmoutis, age 73, was born in Kefalonia, Greece in 1945. He died there suddenly while on vacation with his family on August 24, 2018.
Peter came to America in 1970 to work. He worked as a salesman for Krinos Food. He retired in 2004 from the NYC Sanitation Department as an Operations Consultant. He was active in the Staten Island Greek Orthodox Church and volunteered as a soccer coach and in many church festivals. He was a member of AHEPA. He loved gardening and travelling, having recently gone to Alaska with his wife, Mary of 45 years.
He adored his only son Nicholas and his daughter in law Monica. He especially loved spending time with his grandsons, Petey and Andy. He is survived by his wife Mary, son Nicholas and his brother Spyro, sister in law Angela and several nieces and nephews. Peter enjoyed barbequing and was known for his traditional Greek lamb at Easter and his famous Magiritsa soup. He was a treasure and loving person who we will miss dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the American Heart Association in Peter's memory.
Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, departing at 9:30 AM. A Funeral Service will be held in Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church at 10:00 AM. Family and friends may visit Monday from 2:00-4:00 and 7:00-9:00 PM. An interment will follow in Moravian Cemetery.
