Obituary of Grace Hellund

Grace Hellund (nee Menicci), age 97, passed away on September 6, 2018, at Staten Island University Hospital South. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert (1969); loving mother of Kathleen Della Iacono (Michael), Patricia Savino (Nicholas), and Roberta Arundel (late Alfred); devoted grandmother of Kim Donahue (Mark), Tammy Della Iacono (Katherine Kellerman), Robert Arundel, Tara McIntyre (Jeffery), Peter Savino, Scott Savino (Pia), and Nicole Leotta; fond great-grandmother of 12. She was preceded in death by her four siblings. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Grace was born in Brooklyn in 1921 and lived there most of her life. She had a good sense of humor, who enjoyed socializing, and redecorating her children's homes. In her younger years she enjoyed dancing, especially the "Peabody". Grace enjoyed walking and was self-sacrificing who enjoyed providing for her children and grandchildren. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Monday, with a service at 10 am. Interment will follow in Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY. Family and friends will be received on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
