Obituary of Josephine A. Masso

Josephine A. Masso, age 91, passed away on September 24, 2018. She was devoted daughter of the late Joseph and Natalizia Giannini. She was the beloved wife of Jack for over 59 years. She was the loving mother of Margaret Ponterella and her husband Rick and Anthony Masso and his wife Lisa. She was the cherished grandmother of Marissa, Vincent, Elena, Isabella, Sofia and Siena. She was the dear sister of the late Anthony, Charles and Vincent (Jimmy) Giannini. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Josephine was born on Mott Street, on New York's Lower East Side. Upon her marriage she moved Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Josephine and her husband Jack were married at Most Precious Blood Church. She was a hard worker who was employed by the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company for over 14 years, retiring after her marriage to start a family. They were blessed with two wonderful children exactly 8 years apart, Margaret and Anthony. Josephine was dedicated to the Church and committed to her community. She was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the Legion of Mary and a member of the Rosary Altar Society at Our Lady of Pity Church on Staten Island. Josephine will be remembered as a loving, loyal, devoted, tough and quick witted person who touched the lives of many throughout her life. She will be dearly missed by all those who have had the pleasure to know her. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 10:00 AM. Mass of Chrisitian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:30 to 9:30 PM.
