Obituary of Julia M. Micol

Julia Marie Micol, daughter of the late Josef & Julia Ritocz of Perth Amboy, NJ, passed away early on Thursday morning, October 25, 2018. She was 96 years old. She graduated from St. Joseph Hill Academy on Staten Island and worked for a very short time in the clerical field. After marrying Aldo Micol on September 25, 1948, she was an officer in the Marine Corps League Auxilliary & Columbiettes. Julia was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Mothers Guild, St. Joseph's Guild, and she also volunteered at St. Vincent's Hospital and various nursing homes on the island. Julia was an avid bowler and card player who also loved gardening. She also enjoyed crafts, including ceramics, knitting, crocheting and sewing dolls clothes. In addition, she loved baking & canning and enjoyed her collection of Hummels and ceramic birds. She is survived by her sons: Laurence and his wife Ellen of Worcester, MA, and Thomas and his long time girlfriend, Theresa Beyers of Westerleigh, Staten Island; her Goddaughter Ellen Long Stilwell and her two sons Stanley John and Troy. Julia is also survived by many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, NYC Audobon Society, or the St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard on Wednesday, 10/31, departing at 9:15 am, with a Mass of Christian Burial scheduled at 10 am at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to visit on Tuesday, 10/30, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
