Obituary of Dominick D'Angelo

Dominick D’Angelo, 96, passed away November 2, 2018.  He was born in West Brighton, Staten Island to Gemma and Eustachio D’Angelo, who emigrated from Italy in the early 1900’s.  He graduated from McKee Technical High School and studied at Brooklyn College.  He served for three years in the 26th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron in the Army Air Force during World War II, where he received citations for bravery for flying into enemy territory to map escape routes.  He received the Purple Heart.  After the war, he attended advanced technical schooling for engineering.  He worked at Wallerstein Co., Baxter lab division, St. Vincent’s Hospital and the Archdiocese of New York as a drafting engineer.

He was married to Antoinette D’Angelo in 1948.  They had five children:  Robert, Janis, Judy, Denis and Donna.  Antoinette died in January of 1980.  He was a devoted grandfather to Luke, Evelyn, Rosey, John Gabriel, Mark, Mary, Josie, Elisa and Max.  He shared many happy and fulfilling years with his partner Virginia McMullen.  He was kind, gregarious, generous of his time and talent and inclusive of all.  He will be sorely missed.
