Obituary of Helen Pavalis
Helen Pavalis (nee Bilitsis), age 92, passed away at her home on Sunday, November 5, 2017, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Harry (2008) for 62 years; loving mother of John Pavalis and his wife, Laura, and Tasia Pavalis; cherished grandmother of Christina Amys and her husband, P.J., Andrew Z. Pavalis and his wife, Ioanna, Elizabeth H. Pavalis and her husband Chad Craig, Lisa Wise and her husband, Damien, and Lee Fillingsness; devoted great- grandmother of Sophia, Peter, Alex, Cale, Ellie, Cord, and Panteleimon.
Helen was born on December 29, 1924 at home in Manhattan, and was raised in the Bronx. She was an alumna of Evander Childs High School, in the Bronx, and relocated to Staten Island in 1946, the year she married her husband. She was employed for approximately twenty-five years for the Census Bureau. Helen was described by her family as a great cook, who enjoyed gardening, but her greatest contribution was her loving devotion to a fortunate circle of family and friends who will miss her deeply. Mrs. Pavalis was a member of the Holy Trinity Ladies Philoptochos Society.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
