Obituary of Peter J. Libutti

Peter J. Libutti, age 79, passed away on November 21, 2018. He was the beloved husband of the late Gertrude for over 57 years. He was the loving father of Peter and his wife Marla, Anthony Sr. and his late wife Kathleen, Richard and his wife Theresa, Robert and his late wife Melissa and Theresa. He was the cherished grandfather of Anthony Jr. and his longtime girlfriend, Briana, Eric, Emily and Jamie. He was the dear brother of Amanda. He was the proud uncle to many nieces and nephews. Peter was a hard worker throughout his life, working as a Long Shoreman for the I.L.A. and later a Dispatcher for New York Shipping Association. He led by example, and showed his children and grandchildren that hard work and determination was the way to earn respect. Much like his namesake, St. Peter, he was the rock that we built our family on. He held us together and was our strength and guidance throughout our lives. He was extremely generous and supportive to everyone he knew. He will always be remembered and dearly missed by all who knew him. Funeral Service from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday, departing 9:15AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Michael's R.C. Church at 10:00 AM. An interment will follow in Silver Mount Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Monday and Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 9:00 PM.
