Obituary of Michael A. Ammirato

Michael A. Ammirato, 68, of Graniteville, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Linda (nee Ragucci) for 41 years; loving father of Michael (Melissa) and Steven; dear brother-in-law of Nancy and Jay Torres, Annmarie and Joseph Scarpulla, and Rosalie Ragucci. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Michael was also fond of his beloved pets. Mr. Ammirato was born in 1950, in New Brighton and raised in Graniteville. He was a graduate of Brooklyn Tech High School and furthered his education with his BS Degree in Computer Science from SUNY Potsdam, and earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration from Wagner College and also a Master's of Mathematics Degree from the College of Staten Island. Michael worked for Wall Street based businesses for many years. Later on in life he followed his passion of education and worked as a substitute math Teacher and finished his career with the NYS Gaming Commission. Michael enjoyed yoga and fitness, listening to music and attending concerts, cooking, trips to Atlantic City and cruising, shopping and attending car shows. He was proud to be handy and worked on his and his son's house. His main love and passion in life was his family, especially his wife and two sons. The family of Michael would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Dhar and the caring nurses and PCA's at Staten Island University Hospital North. Also, a special thank you goes out to Gen Giles and all the staff at Addeo House Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to the Addeo House Hospice. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., on Friday, departing at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 10 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
