Obituary of Lillian DelVecchio

Lillian DelVecchio, 81, of Heartland Village, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2018 at Staten Island University Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late Dominick (2011); loving mother of Dominick and his wife, Donna; cherished grandmother of Kristen DelVecchio and her fiance, David Baggs, and Caroline DelVecchio; dear sister of Vincent Galli and his wife Vita, and the late Marie Gambale; fond sister-in-law of Elsie Hogquist. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Lillian was born and raised in Brooklyn, growing up in Bensonhurst and is a graduate of New Utrecht High School. She was employed by the Federal Reserve Bank in her younger years and then later for the New York City Board of Education as a School Aide at P.S. 42. She loved playing bingo and taking trips to Atlantic City and enjoyed time with her family and friends. Lillian is described as an excellent cook, with her specialties being homemade raviolis and baking Christmas cookies. She also grew up rooting for the Brooklyn Dodgers. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday, departing at 9 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Pity R.C. Church at 9:30 am. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm and Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
