Obituary of Augustus J. Nuzzela

Augustus J. Nuzzela, age 77, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2019, at Richmond University Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of Anne (nee Pappalardo) for 52 years; loving father of Kristine Nuzzela, Dina Nuzzela-Aldinger, her husband Robert, Danielle Kimball and her husband Danny; cherished grandfather of Riley and Kelsey Kuefner, Sydney and Madison Aldinger, and A.J. and Juliette Kimball; dear brother of John Nuzzela; fond uncle of Johnny Nuzzela. Mr. Nuzzela was born in Manhattan, raised in Binghamton, and lived in Brooklyn and Staten Island. He graduated High School in Binghamton and furthered his education at the College of Staten Island. Augustus proudly served in the U.S. Army for three years, being stationed in Korea. He served his career with the New York City Police Department, spending many years within the Transit Division. He also was the owner and operator of Augie's Limousine Service. Some of his hobbies included traveling to Aruba and Vegas, taking the sun, and gambling. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations be made to the New York City Hemophilia Chapter (315 West 36 Street, 2nd Floor, NY, NY 10018). Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Thursday, departing at 11 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Family R.C. Church at 11:30 am. Private cremation to follow. Family and friends are invited to visit on Wednesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
