Obituary of Genevieve Pillarella

Genevieve Pillarella, age 95, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2019. She was the devoted daughter of the late Frank and Anna Gonnella. She was the beloved wife of the late Louis Sr. for 64 years. She was the loving mother of Lois, Glen and Louis Jr. She was the dear grandmother of Jamie, Christopher, Jenna, Dean and Raquel. She was the cherished great grandmother of Kayla, Gianna and John. She was the fond sister of Frances Corso and the late Nancy Nitto. Genevieve was born and raised in Staten Island in Rosebank. She was a very proud lifelong Staten Islander. Genevieve graduated from New Dorp High School. Sometime after graduating, she met and fell in love with her amazing husband, Louis. Genevieve and Louis were inseparable and enjoyed spending time with each other. After Louis returned from serving his country honorably during WWII they were married and soon after started having a family. They were blessed with three beautiful children who they raised together. Faith was a huge part of Genevieve's life. She made it a point to raise her children to have a strong religious dedication. For over 25 years, she worked and retired as a school aide in Port Richmond High School. Genevieve enjoyed travelling the world with her husband. She also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, playing cards with her friends and hosting family parties. Throughout her life, Genevieve touched the lives of many and will be remembered as a caring, loving generous and strong person who was dedicated to her family and put those most dear to her heart first. Funeral from Matthew Funeral Home Inc., 2508 Victory Blvd. On Saturday, 1/26/19, departing at 9:15 AM. Funeral Mass will be held in Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends may visit on Friday, 1/25/19, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 7:00 to 10:00 PM.
