Obituary of Gabriel B. Tillman

Gabriel B. Tillman, age 83, passed away peacefully on January 28 2019 at Easton Hospital in Pennsylvania. He was the husband of the late Patricia; loving father of Patricia Servidio (Daniel), Harry Goodheart, Sheila Caprario (John), Tonia Colon Seals (Sam), Joseph Goodheart (Madelyn), and Gabriel Tillman; cherished grandfather of 20 and devoted great-grandfather of 17; dear brother of Jessie Tillman, James Tillman, Raymon Tillman, Esther Tillman, Ertha Tillman, and Rosalee Tillman. He was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mr. Tillman was born in Elgin, South Carolina in 1935 and lived there until he left his days in the Armed Forces. He served in the Army for about 19 years, serving as both a staff Sergeant and in undercover operations. Upon retiring from the Army, he moved to Staten Island and was employed for 25 years in the security department of Manufacturer's Hanover, which eventually became Chase Bank. Gabriel retired after 25 years as a Captain of Security. In 1992, after his retirement he relocated to Stroudsburg, PA, with his wife and daughter's family. He was a fantastic cook who enjoyed feeding his family. Gabriel also enjoyed watching movies, collecting comic books and frequent trips to Atlantic City. In addition, in his younger years, he sang with a band called "The Cadillacs". His main passion was spending time with his grandkids and taking them shopping. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Friday at 10 am. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
