Obituary of John J. Greeley

John Greeley, 82, Meiers Corners, passed away on February 2, 2019 at Richmond University Medical Center. He was the beloved brother in law of Phyllis Greeley; loving uncle of Paul Greeley (Suzanne), Philip Greeley, Stephen Greeley, Carolyn Greeley (Loubos Salomoun). Dear great uncle to two great nephews and one great niece. Also survived by many loving cousins. John was predeceased by his brother Brett Greeley in 2015. Mr. Greeley was born in Brooklyn in 1936 and raised in Sunset Park. John graduated from the Manual Training Technical High School in Brooklyn. He relocated to Staten Island in the late 60's and was employed for over 20 years as a printer at the College of Staten Island. Some of his hobbies included printmaking, photography, woodworking, hunting, and camping. John was also an avid amateur military historian. He was a friend of Bill W. for close to 50 years. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc. on Friday, 2/8, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church at 10 am. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery. Family and friends will be received on Thursday, 2/7, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. www.matthewfuneralhome.com
