Obituary of Joseph M. Cianciotta

Mr. Joseph M. Cianciotta, age 92, of Westerleigh, formerly of Brooklyn, passed away peacefully on October 25, 2017. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (2012); loving father Mary Ortado and her husband, Frank, Frank Cianciotta, and Michael Cianciotta; cherished grandfather of eight; devoted great-grandfather of 9. He was predeceased by his three sisters. Joseph was born on November 9, 1924 in Brooklyn. He proudly served during WWII, in the South Pacific, as part of the Occupation of Guam. He moved with his family to Staten Island in 1964. Joseph was employed for forty years for the former Bankers Trust. During his time there he worked in various roles. He retired from there at age 62 as an Assistant Treasurer. He is described as a great dancer and loved travelling with his wife all over the country and overseas to Italy, Canada, Mexico. One of his favorite trips was to Alaska. Joseph also enjoyed cruises. He was a member of the VFW Post #7172. In lieu of Flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the American Cancer Society.
