Obituary of Madeline Ognibene

Madeline Ognibene (nee Fusco), 76, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Meiers Corners, passed away suddenly, on March 21, in Naples, Florida. She was the beloved wife of Carl Ognibene for 55 years; loving mother of Jeanine Ahearn and her husband, David, Carol D'Auria and her husband, John; cherished grandmother of Danielle, Matthew, David, and Dana; dear sister of Angelina Lunder and her husband, Robert, Camille Armetta, Joanne Graziani and her husband, Armand. Madeline was pre-deceased by her brother Louis Fusco, her brother-in-law Peter Armetta, and her parents, Thomas & Carmela Fusco. She was also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ognibene was born and raised in Brooklyn, graduated from New Utrecht High School, and relocated to Staten Island after marrying her husband, in 1970, settling in Meiers Corners. Madeline worked for over 35 years as a receptionist for Dr. John Merlino at Victory Podiatry. She was an excellent cook, especially with her trademark meatballs and eggplant parmiagana. Madeline also loved shopping, talking on the phone with her family and of course spending time with them. At her new home in Florida, she enjoyed socializing with new friends at the clubhouse in her community, and participating in all kinds of various activities there. She was also very particular at keeping her house in perfect order, and enjoyed dressing well. Madeline had a great taste in fashion, especially jewelry. Madeline's four grandchildren were her pride and joy. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Tuesday, departing at 9:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Rita's R.C. Church at 10 am. Interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woodside, Queens, NY. Family and friends are invited to visit on Monday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
