Obituary of Joseph G. Scott

Joseph G. Scott, 86, of Westerleigh, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2019, at Addeo Hospice. He was the beloved brother of Dorothy DeFoe, the late John Scott, late James Scott, late Rosemary Finn, late Ethel Slattery, late Catherine Scott and Mary Scott. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Mr. Scott was born and raised on Staten Island, specifically in Stapleton, and graduated from McKee High School, class of 1950. After high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. He was part of an army unit that returned art stolen by the Nazi's during WW II. Joseph is also a 20 year veteran of the FDNY, as a Firefighter. He was an avid golfer, who occasionally enjoyed a good beer, and loved spending time with his family. Joseph was also a member of the Ocean Yacht Club on Front Street. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., on Monday, departing at 10:15 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament R.C. Church at 11 am. Interment will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
