Obituary of Helen Sleap

 

 

Helen Sleap, 92, of Bulls Head, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2019, at home, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Richard (2009); loving mother of Craig Sleap and his wife, Rosemary, Lori Maynard and her husband, Robert, and the late Jacqueline Lamendella and her late husband, John; cherished grandmother of Dana Skopp and her husband, Marshall, John Lamendella and his wife, Penny, Craig Sleap and his wife, Lisa, Erin DeFranceso and her husband, Frank, Kenny Sleap and his wife, Larissa, Robert Maynard and his wife, Colleen, Richard Maynard and his wife, Shannon, and Michael Maynard, and his fiancé, Christina Martino; devoted great-grandmother of twelve; dear sister of Agnes Watson. Helen was predeceased by seven siblings. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Helen's children would especially like to acknowledge the exceptional care given to her by her caretakers, Sally and Julie.

Mrs. Sleap was born and raised in Travis and was graduated from McKee High School. Helen was a longtime employee of Proctor and Gamble as a factory worker. She was active as the reporting Secretary of the Port Ivory Retirees Club, and a member of the Great Kills Yacht Club Ladies Auxiliary. Helen also enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and was an avid reader. Above all, Helen enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.

Funeral service at the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., on Monday, at 10 am. Interment to follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Sunday, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
