Obituary of Katherine Ilchert

Katherine Ilchert, age 81 of Staten Island, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2019, surrounded by her children. Katherine was born on July 24th, 1937 in Brooklyn, NY and moved to Staten Island upon marrying her beloved deceased husband, Robert Ilchert. A loving mother to three children, Katherine devoted her life to caring for her family. An active member of Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church (Daughters of Penelope Holy Trinity) she enjoyed the social groups, and activities, and was extremely proud of her Greek heritage. Famous for her spinach pies, Katherine was an excellent cook. She found joy in entertainment, attending Broadway shows, concerts and trips with the Golden Years Seniors group and Grandmothers Club of Staten Island. Katherine was a passionate Brooklyn Dodgers fan and love riding the Coney Island Cyclone with her childhood best friend and cousin Stella. While no longer with us, fond memories of Katherine will always live in our hearts. Funeral from the Matthew Funeral Home, Inc., 2508 Victory Boulevard, on Wednesday, departing at 9:30 am. Funeral service will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church at 10 am. Interment will follow in Moravian Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to visit on Tuesday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
